The Beginning

Two weeks ago Rob and I finally finished packing up our home into our 20 year old caravan, what we didn't need was stored away. We decided we wouldn't move far to begin with and went about a mile up a farm road to our first Camp Site. It didn't take us long to set up camp, putting up the awning is always the difficult part but it only took us about an hour and we were all set. This site is very basic, just as we like it, in a farmer's field but with a small ablution block.

We also have electricity which is a must in this day and age with all the gadgets we enjoy. The view is great, we can see the sea and Flamborough lighthouse and there is a field of sheep in front of us. The site is fairly full over the weekends but during the week it gets quieter but it is still school holidays for another two weeks.
We are getting used to not having to listen for a phone ringing and it is great that Rob no longer has to work late at night. We are relaxing and just doing what we feel like doing which isn't much at the moment.
I have plenty of hobbies I want to pursue, one of them being, writing a blog and letting everyone know what we are doing and where we are. Rob is going to continue playing his bagpipes and even hopes to do some busking!
Although it is fun in our small caravan, it is only a two berth and as we are going to live in a caravan for a while we thought we should look for a bigger one. Well this week we found one, put a deposit down and will collect it in a couple of weeks. It is a four berth so has a fixed bed, so we don't have to make up a bed every night. It has plenty of storage space and is a lot newer than the one we have now. This is a photo of our caravan now.

A photo of the new caravan will be shown once we have it.
This first couple of weeks we have had lovely sunshine, terrific storms, fierce winds and now cooler weather but it is fine, we are quite happy and if it is raining we can close the door, put the heater on and relax with a book or the TV. That is what retirement means to us at the moment. We will do some travelling and move on to a new site next month and explore new places as the mood takes us. When it starts to get colder here in England we will cross to the Continent and follow the sun to Southern France and Spain. Lots of places to see and explore.
