'Doc Martin' and King Arthur

Today we need to rest as we did a lot of exercise yesterday!! I think I have used all the muscles in my body, well I haven't climbed any stairs for a while and we climbed a few hundred yesterday, actually I'm not too sure how many there were but it was a lot. Rob says he doesn't do walking, that's why he has a car!! But he says I made him walk miles and that is enough for now.

First of all we went to Fort Isaac, a small fishing village on the west coast made famous by the television series Doc Martin. Like all these places we had to park and then walk (a bit like Robin Hood's Bay) down a hill into the village.

Once past the harbour we walked up the hill so we could see 'Doc Martin's house' like all the other tourists in the village.

The shop they used as the Chemist.

'The restaurant run by the 'Large's'.

On leaving the village we drove north a short way to Tintagel Castle, this area has apparently been inhabited since Roman times and legend has it that King Arthur was conceived here. The castle was possibly built around 1230 but there are only ruins remaining there now but I find it intriguing to imagine how it looked all those years ago.

Once again we parked in the village and had a walk, this time down a steep hill and then up again for 1/2 mile. But that wasn't all as we had to then climb loads of steps to reach the castle.

I was petrified of slipping!

I was exhausted!

But it was worth it when we got to the top.

This is the entrance and where we walked from.

Merlin's Cave

Rob was also exhausted when we got to the top!!

Coming down was just as scarey!!

Finally at the bottom and looking back up.

We decided to treat ourselves on the way back and caught the 'Landrover' back to the village, it cost us £2.00 each but was well worth it!! Rob says he would have paid a lot more if he had to!!!!
